Intro to Working with a Virtual Assistant Blog Series

I’m writing this towards the end of January but hey, it’s the first blog of the year, so HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It’s fair to say that here in the UK the year as not quite started as many of us would have hoped.  We knew there wasn’t a reset button for the start of the year but even so, full on lockdown was something we’d hoped we’d avoid.  Although if 2020 taught us anything it’s how adaptable and resilient we need to be and those are skills keeping us going in 2021.

Despite how this year has flowed so far, however, I still thought there was value in getting this blog series live.  I’ve had it planned since the autumn but given that the content is relevant year round I decided there wasn’t a point in waiting.  In fact, the Covid pandemic has given many small business owners some level of clarity and direction, and if that’s you then this may the perfect time for this!

Working with a VA is a big topic so I’ve broken it down into 5 sections:

1)  THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE LOOKING FOR A VA

2)  WHAT SORT OF VA YOU NEED

3)  WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN LOOKING

4)  WHAT DOCUMENTS YOU’LL GET

5)  HOW TO PREPARE TO START WORKING WITH THEM

BUT this is not exhaustive by any means.  My intention is solely to make the process of working with one a bit less daunting.

Whatever your business the idea of someone helping to lighten the load on your shoulders is, on one hand, a wonderful thought, but on the other the idea of trusting your business – likely a key part of you and your identity – to someone else is straight-up scary.  One important thing to remember is that a Virtual Assistant is also running their own business and will have the same anxiety about outsourcing as well, they’re only human.  And this is a massive strength as it means that they get both sides of the outsourcing relationship.

Hopefully this series will give you a bit of an insight if you’re curious or help you feel a bit more comfortable with the idea if it’s feeling like a hurdle at the moment.  And if I haven’t covered what you need (as covering everything would be quite the feat!), then do leave a comment, drop me an email or a DM on social media and I’ll do what I can to help.  I can guarantee that if I don’t know the answer to your question, I’ll know someone who does!
